Hello everyone, As mentioned in the Professional Development yesterday there is a new and free Health and Wellness program that Parent University will be hosting at the Gantt Center, 700 North Street beginning October 7th which is the kick-off meeting. Transportation will be provided by PU (bus passes for parents requesting on registration form). I have attached the flyer in English and Spanish. Please make sure you get out to all parents. As requested I am hoping to get at least 5-10 families from each school. Please encourage your teachers and staff in the building to partake of this great opportunity. Registration forms can be scanned over to me as you receive them. Have a great day.

Welcome to the 2014-2015 School Year!!

I am so excited for a brand new year and I hope you are too.  We need to get moving right away to start planning for our awesome International Dinner at the end of October.  Our first PTO meeting is this coming Tuesday, October 16th at 6:30pm.  Bring your kids and snack will be provided.  We typically meet in the library so there are books and computers for the kids to play with.

Hi PTO blog fans,
Last nights meeting was very interesting.  We began with an annoucement of a budget open house meeting that all are invited to by the Superintendendants office.  The first meeting is this evening at 6:30 at Central Office and the next one is February 26th from 6-8 at the Montessori Academy on Scio Street.  I am saving the email I recevied so if there are any questions, please feel free to call me at 259-5981 or email questions to csrpto@gmail.com for details.

Lauren Payne and Regina Neri from Stake Building group came and proposed some ideas to assist the PTO with creating more interest and getting more families to attend meetings.  Some of these ideas include providing families with more inforamtion on PTO at events such as the upcoming Open House in March, inviting incoming Kindergarten families to attend a meeting closer to the end of the year as well as the end of the year picnic and they also helped us with some fundraising ideas. 

Mr. Piper shared the plans for changes that will be happening to our school that will begin in the 2015 school year.  I have included a copy of the blue print so you can see the changes.  Mr. Piper will keep us  informed as to the details as he recevies them.  Right now the blueprints creates more questions than they answer.

The meeting ended with an update on the budget.

The next meeting dates through the end of the year are set for March 11th, April 15th, May 13th and June 10th, all from 6:30 - 7:30pm.  Typically pizza and child care are available.  We are trying to coordinate March's meeting with a meeting of the Facilities work group to discuss the upcoming changes to the school so the time for that meeting may be subject to change.

The next PTO meeting will be held on December 10th at 6:30pm.  Pizza and childcare will be provided.  Mr.Piper will be giving a little presentation and we will also be discussing some upcoming events, budgeting and fundraising, etc...

If you are interested in saving some money and exploring new eateries around Rochester, consider purchasing a 2013 coupon book from Save Around.  They are $20 per book and make great Christmas gifts.  Just using one or two of the coupons pays for the book itself.  There are tons of buy one get one free entree coupons at hundreds of restaurants around Rochester as well as saving on clothing, car washes, etc...  All proceeds go to the PTO which in turn go back into the school to help pay for various activities, staff appreciation day and to help grade families when needed.  If interested please contact Paul Urai at 585-259-5953.

International Dinner

Children's School of Rochester is hosting their annual International Dinner on Friday, October 26th from 5:30 - 7:30pm.  It's being held in the cafeteria of Monroe Highschool.  We look forward to having all families attend.  There will be activities for children, some great food and lots of fun.  Please bring a dish to pass, something from your families cultural heritage or just something you really enjoy cooking. 

In the past, we have been able to secure the parking lot across from Monroe Highschool however we have run into some trouble getting it this year and it looks as though we won't be able to .  I apologize for this and want to encourage everyone to plan ahead for parking if possible.  If something changes with this situation, I will let you know. 

If you would like to help set up, clean up or help with face painting or any other activities with the kids you are welcome to.  There will also be a fun fashion show for the kids and dress up clothes will be available for them to choose from.  Kids can also wear clothes from their native culture if they choose. 

It's always a great time for everyone and I look forward to seeing you there.

First PTO meeting was a success!

First of all, thank you to everyone who attended.  It was very encouraging to see so many people who care about our school and want to help.  For those of you who came last night, please continue coming, I really enjoyed meeting everyone and getting some great ideas and feedback from you.  For anyone who was unable to attend, it's not too late.  Our next meeting will be 10/15/12 @6:30pm.  We will be discussing the International Dinner coming up at the end of October, looking for volunters to help set up, clean up, create activities for the kids, etc...Remember, if there are any topics of interest to you regarding your child's health and welfare, chances are others are interested as well.  Email the PTO csrpto@gmail.com with your ideas and I will do my best to secure people who can come to future meetings and discuss these topics with the group.  
We received a suggerstion last night about using text messaging for reminders about upcoming PTO meetings and events.  If you would prefer to receive text message reminders, you can email us with your cell phone number and I will start a list.

Hello CSR families and welcome to a new school year.  The CSR PTO officially starts up again on September 17th 2012 at 6:30pm when we will have our first meeting.  All parents, guardians and teachers are welcome to attend.  It's a great way to show support to our wonderful school, have some input into your child's educational experience and have some fun.  At the first meeting we will discuss plans for the new school year and brain storm some fund raising ideas.  We welcome all your ideas and are always open to any suggestions.  Any questions, please contact the PTO by email at csrpto@gmail.com or you can call me at 585-259-5981.
